An upside down club in NCR

Image
Club House At Indirapuram Borrows From US TIMES NEWS NETWORK New Delhi: The NCR will soon boast of an upside down building. Looking at the building from outside, one could be forgiven for thinking the world has suddenly been inverted. The architectural marvel will be built by Meriton group at its up-market housing project, Orange County, in Indirapuram. Director of Meriton Group, Avnish Agrawal, got the idea of constructing such a building when he went to the United States of America on a tour. WonderWorks, a US-based real estate developer, already has two ‘inverted’ structures in Florida and Tennessee respectively. ‘‘These structures are amusement parks equipped with extreme experience zones like the disaster zone, the challenge zone, space, sound and light zones and laser tag zones, among others,’’ explained Agrawal. Agrawal was so impressed with the building that he decided to build a similar structure for his project in India. He finally decided to use the concept to build a club h

Greater Noida: The next big real estate hub

Greater Noida: The next big real estate hub Hailed as the next big real estate hub by consultants and end users, Greater Noida will soon offset Gurgaon as the hot-seat of real estate in NCR. The Greater Noida Authority is revamping the civic amenities and other infrastructural facilities. Much awaited projects like the international airport at Jewar and 160-km long Noida-Agra Taj Expressway will help in the fast-track growth of the twin cities. The twin cities offer an entire range of property-options to choose from. The development of Greater Noida Phase-II , spread over 55,000 hectares (which includes 1890 villages), will further lead to an expansion of these cities. The said phase would have 41% area earmarked for greenery, 12% for recreational facilities, 13% for residential, 2.5% commercial, 3.9% institutional and 18.9% devoted for the airport. Also, after completion , the 1483 km long Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor will mark a watershed in connectivity. This Indo-Japanese proje

One Transport policy for NCR

Soon, one transport policy for NCR New Delhi: Soon, one won’t have to rely solely on private cars to commute between Delhi and other NCR townships. The government is coming out with a common transport agreement with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for unhindered movement of buses, autos and taxis in the entire NCR region. An agreement to the effect is expected to be signed between all the state governments in the next fortnight. At a marathon meeting held between state transport departments of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh at the DTC headquarters on Wednesday, officials discussed the issue at length and agreed that since mobility between Delhi and satellite townships of Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad was increasing, there was need to improve connectivity between them. At present, all the cities have their own internal modes of public transport and buses crossing the border need an inter-state permit. Commuters wishing to take autorickshaws or taxis, can’t do so as they are not pe

Power Scene Grim In Capital

Image
Power Scene Grim In Capital, NCR; Won't Get Better It is not just Delhi, which experiences a blackout every time power demand hits its peak. The entire National Capital Region - including Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad - shares the same fate. With population burgeoning in these satellite towns, power demand has grown at an average rate of 8-10 per cent every year. But the corresponding power generation has failed to keep pace with this growth. The results are there for all to see. Daily outages of over eight hours have become a regular feature in these areas. Residents of Gurgaon hit the streets every summer demanding more power. In Noida, industries have changed their schedule and work in night shifts when power demand is low. In Ghaziabad, residents living in housing societies pay through their nose to get uninterrupted power supplied through captive power plants set up by developers. Hope For Delhi And NCR: New Plants Powerless State In the entire NCR - i

Ride on NH-24 to become faster

Ride on NH-24 to become faster NEW DELHI: For lakhs of motorists using National Highway-24 for travelling to and from East Delhi and beyond, the ride is all set to get smoother and faster with the Delhi Government’s Public Works Department now working towards completing the road widening work from Pandav Nagar to Ghazipur Drain by July-end. Also, with work on the Ghazipur flyover due to start in March, people can now well hope for a signal free-journey on the road right up to the Uttar Pradesh border in a couple of years. Though works on the road widening project were awarded in August 2006 and were expected to be completed by November 2007, the project had run into delays on various counts from the world go. “First we were unable to get the slums out of the way and because of that, work could not start for eight months,” explained PWD Engineer-in-Chief R. Subramanian. And after the tenements were removed in April-May 2007, another problem cropped up. “The price of bitumen, with which

Ghaziabad: Hottest Destination

CROSSING the border... ...proximity to Noida and Delhi has made Ghaziabad the hottest destination in NCR LAS VEGAS, London and now — hold your breath — Ghaziabad! The wild west of UP is now up there among the 10 most dynamic cities of the world. A Newsweek survey, which put the city on the global map, happened in 2006 and since then Ghazibad has been hip and happening. In two years, it has done a complete makeover by adding malls, hi-tech cities and golf courses to its new face. Developed as the industrial hub of Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad has come a long way from being called the poor cousin of Noida and Gurgaon in the NCR. “The fact that private developers can buy land directly from farmers in Ghaziabad, unlike in Noida and Greater Noida, helped the city score over others,” says Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) secretary Raj Kumar Sacchan. Big developers such as Shipra Estate, Emaar MGF, Sun City, Gaursons, Uppal Chaddha Group, Parsvnath and Landcraft are now betting big on the ar

Traffic jam on NH-24

Traffic jam on NH-24! National Highway-24 has emerged as the cradle of investment for housing properties, but the rising traffic problems are playing a big spoiler. Akash Vashishtha reports Given the surge in prices of residential real estate across key UP cities — Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad (part of the national capital region), the National Highway-24 has emerged as the cradle of investment for housing properties, in the last four years. For those willing to settle in green zone and yet remain within a stone’s throw from Delhi, NH-24, in recent years, has come up as a prime alternative for those seeking affordable homes. Five More Expressways

Uttar Pradesh Govt Plans Five More Expressways, Highways Being Developed By NHAI The Uttar Pradesh government is planning five more expressways in the state even before it signs the concession agreement for the Rs40,000 crore Ganga Expressway project awarded in January. And yet again, just as in the case of the Ganga Expressway, the proposed highways are coming up in the vicinity of the highways being developed by the National Highways Authority of India, or NHAI, the roads regulator. "We will not approach the Centre for any kind of assistance in funding. As in the case of the Ganga Expressway, we will raise resources for these projects by leveraging land," said an official, who was involved in the planning of the Ganga Expressway project as well, but did not wish to be identified. The tender for the Ganga Expressway project, which will connect Greater Noida with Ballia, was awarded to Jaypee Infratech Ltd in January. The concessionaire is expected to be leased around 7,000ha
